Delonte’s Game: “This season for reasons both legal and personal, Delonte West has been told and chosen to keep mostly to himself. Even for his teammates and coaches, West can sometimes be distant and in his own world. So it has often been hard to determine where he is mentally or physically during this vitally important season for the Cavaliers franchise and himself. After all, his contract is not guaranteed after this season. Which is why two telling moments in the Cavs’ victory over the Phoenix Suns Monday night doubled as windows into West’s status. Both were positive — good signs for the team and its beloved, yet troubled, guard.” [Brian Windhorst]

Heading into the Rose Bowl: “It’s no surprise that the Buckeyes look dominant out of the gate. But Oregon fans protest that these raw numbers are less about Ohio State’s defensive strength, and more about the Big Ten’s offensive weaknesses. So, let’s adjust them to reflect the quality of attacks each team faced.” [Law Buckeye/Rivalry Esq.]

Manny Acta’s old team is actually signing free agents. Now his new team, not so much… [Mr. Irrelevant]

Looking at the upcoming recruiting class: “As of right now, the class has just 15 commits, and is rated the 21st best in the country by Scout and a middling 27th by Rivals. No, it’s not PANIC MODE! time, even though the yokels at Scout are predictably wailing. This is a small class, and both recruiting services tend to reward larger recruiting classes with higher rankings; the top 8 classes on Rivals all have 20 or more commitments while the top 18 on Scout have 19 or more. Since the staff can only sign roughly 20 players given scholarship limits, we can consider ourselves roughly on schedule. If you’re still worried about the rankings, sort by average star/player on either site, and the Buckeyes wind up in the top 10 or 12. Insert “quality over quantity” cliché here.” [WWAHT]

And finally, the future of Brady Quinn: “Brady Quinn has played his last game of 2009 after having been placed onto the Injured Reserve List on Tuesday morning with an undisclosed foot injury suffered late in Sunday’s 41-34 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. But will that be the last game, period, the third-year quarterback ever plays for the Browns?” [Steve King/The OBR – S/R]
